Water Equipment Technician

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs maintenance and repairs on machinery and equipment at interconnects, pump stations, and water towers and tanks.
• Monitors SCADA system operations and troubleshoots malfunctions of SCADA system and related instrumentation and equipment.
• Performs laboratory analyses.
• Reads City water meters using electronic reading equipment.
• Assists with water meter replacement and water tap installations, low pressure, low flow, and water quality complaint investigations and locating of meter boxes, curb boxes and taps.
• Assists with the processing of Missouri One call locate requests.

REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of three years' experience in the water utility industry.
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B required.
• Required to be on-call at times by cell phone and/or pager and rotate on-call weekends with other support service employees.
• Considerable knowledge of equipment and practices used in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of pumps, motors, electrical and electronic equipment, and telemetry in water distribution systems.
• Knowledge of materials, equipment, and practices used in the installation of service lines, taps, meters and meter boxes, curb stops and boxes, and fire service vaults and appurtenances.
• Knowledge of laboratory analyses for bacteria and chlorine to perform tests per Missouri Department of Natural Resources laboratory requirements.
• Ability to understand and interpret plans and schematics and manufacturers' maintenance manuals.
• Ability to safely climb water towers for inspections, repairs, and installation of new equipment.
• Ability to use a personal computer, printer, two-way radio, fax, and copier.

SALARY: $47,333 - $52,064 per year depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. Open until filled.
