Recreation Manager - Facilities

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares annual revenue and expense budgets for the community center and aquatic center cost centers. Monitors financial performance of those cost centers, including operating and capital expenses and revenue.
  • Administers contracts for concessions, pool management and maintenance contracts for major equipment.
  • Prepares bids and specifications for capital projects and contractual services.  Completes other purchasing processes as required.
  • Develops and recommends policies and procedures related to operations, use and participation for all recreation facilities and programs under his/her supervision.
  • Supervises custodial and maintenance staff for the Community Center.
  • Provides assistance to other parks and recreation staff for special events such as Summer Concert Series, Greentree Festival, and July 4th fireworks display, Thanksgiving Day run, including program content development, implementation and evaluation.
  • Manages all aspects of recreation programs at the aquatic center, including program development, implementation and evaluation.
  • Acts as staff liaison to citizen advisory committee for aquatic center, and other groups as assigned by Director of Parks and Recreation.
  • Prepares reports on financial performance, facility usage, program participation. 
  • Develops training programs for all employees within areas of responsibility.
  • Prepares and/or reviews employee performance appraisals.
  • Administers disciplinary actions where necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of recreation programming philosophy, trends and operations, and facility management.
  • Ability to prepare and justify an operating and capital budget.
  • Ability to supervise and evaluate the work of subordinates.
  • Ability to deal with the public in an effective and courteous manner.
  • Ability to plan, schedule and assign work.
  • Ability to act efficiently in an emergency situation.
  • Computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets and other recreation related software applications.
  • Minimum of Bachelors Degree in Recreation or equivalent field of study.
  • Three years full time experience in recreation programming and/or facility management.
  • Significant experience in budget preparation, personnel supervision, and revenue generation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • CPO (Certified Pool Operator) or (AFO (Aquatic Facility Operator) certification preferred.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license

Salary:  $52,381 per year with great benefits package
