Recreation Clerk, Part-Time

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for staffing the Community Center front desk.
  • Collects fees; registers customers for programs, passes, and daily activities; and verifies resident/non-resident passes.
  • Answers the phone, answers questions, and provides information to Kirkwood Parks and Recreation facility users.
  • Provides superior customer service, enforcing policies in a friendly courteous manner.
  • Prepares reports and deposits at end of shift.
  • Maintains cleanliness of front desk and surrounding areas.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers and to handle difficult situations professionally, using discretion, patience, proper etiquette.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to positively interact with a variety of people in a diverse work environment.
  • Possesses knowledge of Parks and Recreation programs and safety procedures.
  • Able to learn complex computer programs.
  • Able to work independently and as a member of a team.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work is primarily done in an indoor setting. Must be available to work weekends and evenings. Expected to work approximately 20-25 hours per week with a varying work schedule.

Front Desk hours are:

Monday Thursday 8:00 a.m. 7:30 p.m.

Friday 8:00 a.m. 5:30 p.m.

Saturday 9:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. (2:00 pm May 16 July 11)

Sunday 12:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m. (May 17 July 12 only)

STARTING SALARY: $11.00 per hour, position open until filled.
