IT Systems Administrator

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Responsible for supporting end users, managing department projects, maintaining Windows servers, workstations, & network hardware, and administering document management system and website


SUPERVISION:

Under direct supervision of IT Director. Does not oversee or direct any other employees.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Support the city's end users on all city systems, devices, and software
  2. Assist with management of department projects
  3. Assist with maintenance and update of Windows servers
  4. Perform network hardware and software upgrades
  5. Assist with administration of Laserfiche document management system
  6. Assist with administration of VMware environment
  7. Assist with city's audio/video/graphics needs
  8. Conduct periodic training and orientation of employees
  9. Make recommendations to IT Director regarding systems upgrades and enhancements
  10. Support city's emergency response personnel on-call, outside of normal business hours
  11. Perform routine office duties, and use standard office equipment such as telephone, FAX, PC, e-mail.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Knowledge of PCs and networks
  2. Knowledge of workplace applications, such as MS Office 2016
  3. Ability to exercise initiative and good judgment in planning and organizing
  4. Effective verbal and written communication
  5. Familiarity with MS Exchange
  6. Familiarity with MS Active Directory, DHCP, and DNS
  7. Experience with audio/video/graphics applications like Audacity, Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator
  8. Courteous and professional interaction with internal customers and external clients
  9. Ability to work on a multitude of tasks simultaneously with numerous disruptions
  10. Familiarity with SharePoint 2010



MINUMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Three years of experience with PCs in networked environment
  2. Two years of experience supporting MS Office 2016
  3. Two years of experience supporting Windows Server 2012/2016
  4. One year of experience supporting VMware a plus
  5. One year of experience supporting Laserfiche a plus



MENTAL EFFORT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Perform bending, squatting, kneeling, crawling, walking, reaching from ground level to six feet in height; must be able to hold and grip objects. Must be able to sit or stand at desk for long periods of time, and perform standard office duties. Must be able to enter data, view monitor, and type at keyboard for long periods of time.



WORKING CONDITIONS, ENVIRONEMENT, AND POSITION RELATED HAZARDS:

Individual to work 40 hours a week, may work some holidays and evenings. Primarily indoor office environment. Occasional outdoor working environment includes exposure to a variety of weather conditions and subject to unleveled and uneven walking surfaces.
