Assistant Urban Forester

Responsibilities:

Plans and organizes site inspections to ensure contractors are following the Tree Ordinance and aid in the prioritization of maintenance needs for the urban forest. Administers site inspections and reviews citizen requests for maintenance of the urban forest. The work of this position is distinguished by its emphasis on urban forest management, contractor oversight, Tree Ordinance enforcement, and public relations.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Forestry or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three years' experience in the field of forestry along with additional seminars/training on updated forestry practices. Or an equivalent combination of directly related education and/or experience. Flexible working hours during inclement weather and emergency management operations. ISA certified arborist and/or SAF Certified Forester.

Working Conditions:

Overtime required during inclement weather and emergency management operations. Stands for a period of up to four hours per day. Push weights of up to 40 pounds.
